The average U.S. home is now spending a total of $3,824 a month on electricity, according to a new study by the American Enterprise Institute.
The median annual electricity bill for the first quarter of 2020 is now $1,064.
The report, titled “Energy Costs in the U. S.,” also finds that the average U,S.
household uses an average of 4.4 kilowatt-hours of electricity a year.
That is up from 4.3 kilowatts in 2020.
The study found that electricity use in 2020 increased from an average rate of 3.3 to 5.5 kilowats per month.
It also found that homes with two or more electrical outlets were using an average amount of electricity of 6.4 kWh a month.
In 2020, households spent an average $1.2 billion a year on electricity.
That is more than double the amount spent on gasoline, according the study.
